The DUO 800 can be build with a sloop rig or a parallel rig.
The design continues the development after previous models like the DUO 425 and SC435.
I designed this boat 1980.
The boat is build around the world, for instance in Australia, Germany, India, the UK etc. The boat is a capable seaworthy boat.
The boat has proven to be capable by long voyages (e.g. a trip from Germany to Norway).The fellow on the deck with the little boy sailed the boat from Germany to Norway.
The nacelle/cabin see pictures below, is surprisingly roomy. The boat can be build with a parallel (biplane) rig or a sloop rig.

It is the only eight-meter cat with a central nacelle on the market. The nacelle sleeps four for a weekend outing or three for a holiday trip.
With a purpose-built trailer the boat can be set up in about a one hour

The boat is a typical wood/glass/Epoxy composite construction.
The a-symmetrical hulls can be build on a floor or table. Perfect for first time boat builders. No complicated bulkhead setting up. No stelling (helling) necessary with all its un-securidies for first time boat builders. No lofting is required.

The beams are made from standard Aluminum tubes for ease of construction.
Even amateurs new to boat building will have no difficulties building this boat. The drawings are CAD drawings.

The construction description is clear to understand.
If you like to build the boat with the biplane rig. The carbon masts (tubes) are, besides in New Zealand, very expensive.
The plans include the construction of a carbon masts, and related drawings. Including special devices to make the construction more easy. This is the only DIY carbon mast description on the marked.
There are many misgivings to asymmetrical catamarans. My designs have proven that the are as easy to maneuver as any boat (yes also as monomarans).
