It is interesting to see the renewed interest in wing-in-ground-effect (WIG) craft.
Many new designs are being presented. Some are merely concepts accompanied by the usual PR language and will probably disappear over time. Others exist as renderings or prototype craft, but none have yet entered full-scale production.
One exception is a new two-seat electric tandem craft, which can be ordered from China for approximately US$120,000. It has a top speed of 85 km/h and a range of about 80 km.
Alternatively, you can build a WIG craft
by yourself for around US$7,000.

There is no better example of ground-effect flight than the albatross. They can fly over 1,000 km without flapping their wings once, using the ground effect.
If you are interested in how these crafts work, I have revived my websites from 2005. There you will find an introduction to the three different types of wing-in-ground-effect craft and an explanation of how they operate.
